FedEx Ground to Add 120 EVs to Distribution Fleet

FedEx Ground will soon be purchasing 120 zero-emission electric trucks for 35 different operators based in California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Texas.

The delivery company entered into an agreement with Xos to add electric vehicles to its fleet from the company’s Class 5 to Class 8 commercial truck portfolio. Delivery of the vehicles is expected for Q4 2021 and 2022.

“We are pleased to support the electrification of FedEx’s medium duty pickup-and-delivery fleet across several U.S. states as FedEx continues to advance sustainability efforts and work toward achieving carbon emissions goals across its global business,” Dakota Semler, Xos co-founder and CEO, said in a statement. “We are thrilled with our current FedEx Ground relationships and look forward to expanding them further among the 4,000 FedEx Ground operators who support the FedEx network.”

FedEx Ground is continuing discussions with Xos for the possible purchase of additional vehicles in 2022 and 2023.
