RackBank to Power Indian Data Center with RE
RackBank Datacenters completed an agreement to source renewable energy for its hyper-scale data center in India.
The company completed a Memorandum of Understanding with ReNew Power, which will construct, co-own and operate a hybrid power generation facility for the data center. RackBank will then purchase the clean energy directly from ReNew through a “Open Access” mechanism.
The agreement will also allow RackBank to offset its energy use through the purchase of green credits from ReNew. These credits would bring RackBank’s data center operations to net-zero emissions.
“We are proud to build India's first green data center and are excited to partner with ReNew Power for clean power procurement,” Narendra Sen, CEO of RackBank Datacenters Limited, said in a statement. “This initiative is one of the major check posts for RackBank's vision of a sustainable future, along with the several other green initiatives previously taken by our company. RackBank Hyperscale platform will enable 100% clean energy for our data center and through this partnership, we should be able to reduce our power cost by 30% compared to power consumption directly from the grid.”
