FMC Targets Net Zero By 2035
FMC Corporation recently announced that it is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035.
The agricultural sciences company also committed to set science-based targets through the Science Based Targets initiative and plans to pursue carbon-neutral operations throughout its Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. In the interim, FMC is pursuing goals to reduce its energy intensity and greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 25% by 2030.
To reach these targets, FMC plans to improve efficiencies, invest in renewable energy and support emissions reductions from its suppliers throughout its manufacturing, supply chain, procurement and R&D sectors.
“As a leader in the global agricultural industry, we see firsthand the impact climate change has on farmers and the world's food supply,” Karen Totland, vice president and chief sustainability officer, said in a statement. “We have an obligation to meet climate challenges head on and to find solutions that benefit all of our stakeholders.”
