NH Grocery Distribution Center Gets Rooftop Solar Installation
The Associated Grocers of New England recently completed a 3,400-panel solar project on the rooftop of its distribution center in Pembroke, N.H.
The panels were installed by Re-Vision Energy and are expected to offset 2.2 million pounds of CO2 annually. This rooftop solar installation is now the largest in New Hampshire, New Hampshire Public Radio reported.
The project, a result of a newly formed sustainability committee within the Associated Grocers of New England, is also expected to generate 20% of the electricity needs of the distribution center per year. It is expected to come fully online in the next few months.
Dan Weeks, Re-Vision’s vice president of Business Development, told the publication that the project alone accounts for roughly 1% of the solar capacity in New Hampshire, a number pointing to the extreme lack of renewable energy projects in the state.
