Nouryon Updates Emission Progress
Nouryon updated its targets to reduce GHG emissions and set a new 2030 target to reduce operational GHG emissions by 40% and confirmed its existing 2030 targets to reduce water consumption intensity by 10% and total waste intensity by 10%, versus a 2019 baseline. The company’s absolute operational GHG emissions increased only 1% since 2019 even as the company achieved strong growth in production and sales volumes.
By 2050, Nouryon, a global, specialty chemicals company, aspires to be a net zero organization.
Details were provided in its 2021 Sustainability Report, which is the company’s first report that aligns to the recommendations from the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). In addition, Nouryon joined the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.
“At Nouryon we are guided by our purpose, and our commitment to a sustainable future. Sustainability is core to our strategy and values given its importance to our customers, employees, suppliers, and society,” said Charlie Shaver, CEO of Nouryon, in a statement. “I am proud of our focused investments, innovation-led approach, and customer intimacy that enable us to make a meaningful impact throughout our value chain and deliver value to our key stakeholders.”
