Public Storage Achieves Emission Reduction

Public Storage announced the company reduced energy consumption, carbon emission, water consumption, and waste production by 5% and 22%, on average, over the past one and three years, respectively, through proactive environmental initiatives.

The company lowered energy consumption by its goal of at least 5%  in 2021 and over the the past three years reduced energy use by 18%. The 2022 goal is to reduce it by 5%.

Public Storage's carbon emission goal of at least 5% reduction in 2021 was achieved with 27% reduction over the past three years. The 2022 goal is to also reduce it by 5%.

The company made progress in switching to energy efficient lighting with nearly 1,500 properties completed and continuing the goal for new properties.

Details were given in its 2022 Sustainability Report.

Public Storage is a REIT that acquires, develops, owns, and operates self-storage facilities and owns 2,797 self-storage facilities located in 39 states with approximately 199 million net rentable square feet in the U.S.
