Beautycounter Sets 2050 Goals
Beautycounter, a skincare and cosmetics company, announced a commitment to rooting its climate action in science and of registering its net-zero goal with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
This third-party validation would confirm that the goals the company set to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 are based on the latest climate science, according to a statement.
Beautycounter noted that most of its GHG emissions don’t come from its operations and are upstream and downstream in its supply chain. Emissions embedded in both the raw materials used in the company’s packaging—along with the energy used to transport them—are a big part of the overall carbon footprint.
Beautycounter’s net-zero target is underpinned by a series of commitments across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and the company will share more about its detailed decarbonization plan later this year.
