Orthex SBTi Targets Approved
Orthex, a Finland houseware company, announced that SBTi approved its near-term, science-based emissions reduction target.
Together with partners, the company also initiated two significant raw material-related projects to find breakthrough solutions that would enable the company to further increase the use of sustainable raw materials in its products and reduce its carbon footprint. These actions are congruent with Orthex’s ambition to achieve carbon neutrality in production by 2030.
In 2022, Orthex's Scope 1,2, and 3 emissions decreased by 23% (31,107 vs. 40,304 tCO2 eq.) and the relative carbon footprint was also significantly smaller than in 2021 (2.2 vs. 2.5 kgCO2 eq./kg).
"Sustainability is at the core of our strategy and is present in our everyday work. Our goal is to be the industry forerunner in sustainability. During 2022, we made significant progress in our sustainability journey, but the work is of course not finished, and we constantly strive to improve the sustainability of our products and our operations,” said Alexander Rosenlew, CEO of Orthex Corporation, in a statement.
