NY State Finishes RE Infrastructure Projects
New York state announced the completion of eight large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects. The projects were finished during the past six months and will contribute to New York's power grid by producing clean energy from wind, solar and a hydropower facility.
In total, the projects generate 418 megawatts, which is enough renewable energy to lower 600,000 tons of carbon emissions annually and power over 150,000 homes in New York. This milestone represents significant progress toward the achievement of New York's Climate Act goal for 70 percent of the state's electricity to come from renewable energy by 2030.
The projects include the Grissom Solar project in the Mohawk Valley, a 20-megawatt project that was developed and constructed by CS Energy and is owned by MN8 Energy with tax equity financing from M&T Community & Environmental Development LLC, a subsidiary of M&T Bank Corporation.
"One of my administration's top priorities is transforming New York's electricity system and building a thriving green economy," Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement. "These large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects supported the creation of hundreds of clean, green jobs and will deliver clean energy to hundreds of thousands of New York homes."
