HNI Recognized by DOE as Partner in Better Climate Challenge
HNI Corporation announced it was recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for achieving its Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduction goal as a partner in the Better Climate Challenge.
The company reduced its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 64% through energy efficiency efforts and the purchase of renewable electricity.
A manufacturer of workplace furnishings and residential building products, the company set portfolio-wide emissions reduction goals. Its strategy incorporates the use of renewables, energy efficiency measures and new technology to improve and integrate sustainability in HNI’s processes and products.
“We are proud of this achievement and grateful for the partnership with the DOE. We rely on the collaboration, resources, and tools that the DOE provides to help us on this journey. We take a moment to acknowledge this achievement but know we need to keep pushing forward and further to increase our efficiency and to make a significant contribution in the fight against climate change,” said Lisa Brunie McDermott, HNI’s Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, in a statement.
