Ziff Davis Emissions Targets Approved by SBTi

Ziff Davis, Inc. announced the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated its GHG emissions reduction targets of lowering its Scope 1 and 2 GHG  by 50% by 2030 and Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and capital goods by 51.6% by 2030.

The primary sources of the company’s Scope 3 emissions are purchased goods and services and capital goods. Scope 3 emissions declined by 38% from 2022 to 2023 due to increased sourcing from Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and SBTi-aligned suppliers, as well as updating the sources of emissions factors for these categories and overall lower vendor spend.

In 2023, the digital media and internet company took steps to reduce its environmental footprint by participating in the CDP.

The company also achieved continued reductions in company-wide energy usage from the consolidation of its office locations and reducing the square footage of the remaining offices. In  2023, its total operational square footage was reduced by 26% over 2022.

Ziff Davis is committed to using alternative or renewable energy sources where it is practical and proactively evaluating new opportunities in its business model and operations to reduce climate change risks. Evaluation criteria for environmental risks, including climate change, are integrated into the due diligence process for mergers and acquisitions.

Details were announced in its annual Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Report for 2023.

“In 2023, we took important steps to reduce Ziff Davis’ environmental footprint and to make our company more representative and inclusive,” said Vivek Shah, CEO of Ziff Davis, in a statement. “We thank our employees worldwide for taking action through volunteering and participating in our company’s many programs and charitable activities, and for being at the heart of our efforts to foster a great workplace.”
