Caesars Entertainment Sets New Emissions Goal

Caesars Entertainment, Inc., a casino-entertainment company, is implementing a new GHG reduction goal of 46.2% by 2030 from a 2019 baseline after achieving emission reduction goals three years ahead of schedule in 2022.

The company also finalized several initiatives in 2023 to improve the carbon profile and overall environmental impact of CAESARS FORUM, its 600,000-square-foot convention center in Las Vegas. The new initiatives include a green cleaning program, a monitoring-based commissioning — which uses data and feedback to ensure major mechanical systems are operating optimally — and a composting program. 

These initiatives enabled CAESARS FORUM to achieve a gold-level certification against the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard.

The company is integrating renewable energy as part of its total electricity consumption through power purchase agreements and on-site solar power generation that provide 15-18% of its total electricity requirement to power the properties and offices.

In 2023, Caesars Entertainment secured over $3 million in local grant funding and other benefits to support the installation of 236 charging ports across the enterprise. The first installations were completed at Harrah’s Kansas City Hotel & Casino, which now has 10 charging ports. In 2024, 226 additional EV charging ports will be installed in Las Vegas and Black Hawk, Colorado, with more to come across the country as the company moves toward a target of over 300 EV charging ports at more than 15 destinations across the U.S.

Details were released in its 2023 Corporate Social Responsibility report. 

“At Caesars Entertainment, we’re committed to continuing to develop, diversify and achieve our CSR goals,” said Heather Rapp, SVP of Corporate Social Responsibility for Caesars Entertainment, in a statement. “We’ve been in a period of progress as we met and exceeded our interim emission reduction goals three years ahead of schedule, and because of that work, we were able to implement new, more ambitious goals this year. Our success in our environmental impact category motivates us to keep growing and achieving in our CSR efforts across the board.”
