Rogers Sets 2030 Goals

Rogers Corporation, an electronic and elastomeric materials manufacturer, set a goal to lower Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions at its manufacturing sites by 20% by 2030 with a baseline year of 2022.

In 2023, the company installed automated lighting at its Narragansett, Rhode Island facility and commissioned a propane-fueled process heater to replace a #2 fuel oil-burning unit at its  Woodstock, Connecticut facility, reducing emissions by 16% when the equipment is used.

Rogers also collaborated with a neighbor at its Evergem, Belgium site in the construction of a wind turbine in 2023. Starting in spring 2024, 100% of Evergem’s electricity needs will be met by this renewable energy source when the turbine is active. Evergem also installed 21 energy counters on machinery and other installations to more accurately and precisely measure energy consumption at the facility.

In 2023, the company replaced fluorescent lamps with energy efficient LEDs at its Budapest, Hungary facility, where it also uses motion sensors instead of traditional switches.

As detailed in its 2024 ESG Report, Rogers reported a reduction in GHG emissions from its global facilities through increased use of renewable energy and the reduction of natural gas and diesel usage.

The report also includes the company’s sustainability practices within its manufacturing operations — including progress made to reduce energy consumption, GHG emissions and water usage — and reporting that aligns to established sustainability and reporting frameworks, including those published by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board.

“We are pleased to share our latest ESG report, which further demonstrates Rogers’ commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainability,” said Colin Gouveia, Rogers' President and CEO, in a statement. “The report highlights both the significant progress we have made towards our ESG initiatives this past year and our dedication to operate our business with a strong sense of responsibility to all our stakeholders. As we continue forward on our ESG journey we are pleased to introduce targets to reduce GHG emissions across our global operations. At Rogers we are committed to enabling a cleaner, safer, and more connected world with our innovative materials that help drive leading-edge technologies.”
