New initiative in Hawaiʻi could change the world’s carbon footprint (KHON2)  A new innovative project which involves growing camelina sativa, a versatile oilseed plant, on farms across the Hawaiian Islands to produce renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is making big waves in farming in Hawaiʻi.

Utilities are trying hydrogen-blended fuels. There are a lot of ‘unknowns.’ (Floodlight News)  Nearly 20 utilities have laid out plans to inject lines with a blend of gas and hydrogen, the latter of which emits no carbon dioxide (CO2) — a major greenhouse gas — when combusted. Testing such blends, these companies say, is an essential step towards understanding the practice, which they argue will help reduce emissions and fight climate change.

Global Methane Pledge: which countries are cutting emissions? (World Economic Forum)  At COP26, the Global Methane Pledge (GMP) was introduced as a means to address this potent greenhouse gas (GHG). It aims to cut global methane emissions by at least 30% from 2020 levels by 2030. But making pledges is one thing; honouring them is another. So, with COP29 later this year in Azerbaijan, we must ask ourselves: who is keeping their promises?
