Credo Finishes First GHG Emissions Calculation

Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd, a high-speed connectivity solutions provider, announced the completion of its inaugural GHG emissions and carbon footprint calculation for calendar year 2023.

This comprehensive GHG report was created in collaboration with environmental consultancy Minimum and is part of the company’s goal towards improved environmental sustainability.

Targeting direct office emissions as well as indirect emissions from purchased electricity and heating, the report calculation concentrated on Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Credo acknowledges the environmental issues facing the semiconductor sector, especially with relation to energy-intensive procedures.

Credo is now focused on developing a carbon reduction strategy that aligns with global climate goals. The company is exploring a range of initiatives, including:

  • Renewable energy adoption: Transitioning to renewable energy sources for its San Jose facilities, with the goal of significantly reducing Scope 2 emissions.
  • Low-power product innovation: Continuing to innovate in the development of energy-efficient products that contribute to lower power consumption in end-user applications, further reducing its overall carbon footprint.
  • Carbon offsetting: Exploring opportunities for carbon offsetting, including a range of carbon removal projects and investments in renewable energy credits, to compensate for unavoidable emissions.

“This year has been pivotal in laying the groundwork to understand and reduce our environmental footprint,” said Bill Brennan, CEO of Credo, in a statement. “Our high-performance connectivity solutions are optimized for low power, enhancing energy efficiency in data centers around the world. Alongside these innovations, we’ve transitioned our San Jose facilities to 100% renewable energy sources. Now, with this emissions baseline, we can collaborate more effectively with industry partners to develop a comprehensive carbon offset strategy.”

Additional details on Credo’s sustainability initiatives and GHG reporting plans will be shared in its upcoming Environmental Social Governance (ESG) report.
