Verescence's Targets Receive SBTi Approval
Verescence, a global luxury glass packaging company for the perfumery and cosmetics industries, announced its latest goals were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
This follows the company’s initial validation of its GHG emissions reduction targets in 2022 by the SBTi under the "Well Below 2°C" (WB2C) scenario.
The SBTi validated Verescence’s updated targets, confirming that they align with the latest climate science. Verescence commits to lower absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 63.7% by 2034 from a 2019 base year.
Verescence also commits to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, and upstream transportation and distribution 37.5% within the same timeframe.
“Our teams have worked to align our decarbonization roadmap with the ambition of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C,” said Thomas Riou, CEO of Verescence, in a statement. “To meet these targets, we will implement widespread electrification across many of our processes in all our facilities — furnaces, feeders, and lehrs — and utilize green gas. We are also supporting our suppliers in reducing their carbon footprints.”
