OPPD achieves 30% renewable energy sales goal
Renewable energy represented 30% of Omaha Public Power District’s retail sales in 2017, up from 13% in 2016.
As reported by the Omaha World-Herald, this marks a significant milestone for the traditionally coal-heavy utility.
The 30% mark was reached ahead of schedule, said Tim Burke, OPPD’s president and chief executive, noting it as "what our original estimate was for 2018." Looking forward, the utility has announced a goal of 50% by 2020.
