Webster, MA hospital adds solar array
The Harrington HealthCare’s Webster, MA facility has added a 4,200-panel solar array, expect to save the hospital and community more than $1 million. The facility will realize direct savings and lower operating costs, while almost 150 nearby homes can subscribe to the project via the state’s net metering program, reducing their energy costs by 15%.
The Worcester Business Journal reported that the project, which was completed at the end of 2017 by Nexamp, a solar energy firm, and recently approved for operations, is expected to generate almost 1.3 million kilowatt hours per year and more than 25 million kilowatt hours over the project’s lifetime.
"Our involvement with this solar project is, in many respects, a natural extension of our commitment to providing reliable services to Webster and the surrounding community," said Harrington HealthCare CFO Thomas Sullivan. "The monthly savings from Nexamp will result in a direct and meaningful benefit to the patients we serve and the system's bottom line."
