Shiloh Industries joins program to power Michigan facilities with RE
Shiloh Industries will begin to power three of its Michigan facilities with 100% renewable energy following a commitment made to a Michigan clean power program.
The global supplier of lightweighting, noise and vibration technology within the automotive industry joined DTE Energy’s MIGreenPower program Dec. 20, which gives the company access to clean energy projects for sourcing the power for their Plymouth Technical Center and stamping plants in Roseville and Warren. The project is expected to offset nearly 4,000 metric tons of carbon emissions.
“Shiloh is proud to embrace DTE’s MIGreenPower program, taking an important step toward achieving our goal of carbon neutrality,” Ramzi Hermiz, president and CEO of Shiloh, said in a statement. “The program complements our sustainability initiatives, including our global network of landfill-free facilities and our portfolio of 100% recyclable products.”
Other companies currently using the MIGreenPower program to source clean energy include Ford Motor Company, General Motors, The Detroit Zoo and the University of Michigan. DTE expects to double their renewable energy capacity over the next five years by investing $2.8 billion in wind and solar, generating power which will, in turn, be used by Michigan-area businesses.
