Virginia, Maryland, Delaware to increase RE available in energy cooperative
Customers in Virginia, Maryland and Delaware will soon have access to increased renewable energy through the development of 15 distributed solar projects to provide services through Old Dominion Electric Cooperative.
The non-profit power supply cooperative will be adding this 60 MW of solar power to their portfolio through a partnership with EDF Renewables North America, with whom they signed an agreement in 2019 for 30 MW of solar power across 10-12 sites. The increased number of projects announced March 17 are expected to begin service in 2021.
“ODEC is excited to add to our diverse supply of low-cost, clean energy through these solar projects,” Marcus Harris, President and CEO of ODEC, said in a statement. “Our cooperative is dedicated to expanding renewable energy generation as part of our on-going commitment to providing our member owners with safe, affordable, reliable, and sustainable power.”
ODEC will purchase the energy from EDF Renewables at a fixed rate through a PPA. EDF Renewables will develop, design, engineer and commission all 15 solar projects.
