Iron Mountain Signs New Leases for RE-powered Data Center Space

Iron Mountain announced April 15 that it signed two leases for a total of 6 MW with a U.S.-based Fortune 100 customers at its 100% renewable energy-powered data center in Phoenix, Ariz.

The leases will include a 1 MW expansion of the AZP-2 data center complex in the third quarter of 2021 and a lease for a 5 MW expansion in the fourth quarter of 2021. The three-story facility will span more than 530,000 gross square feet and deliver 48 MW of IT capacity once the expansion is complete.

“We are pleased to expand our support of one of the world's leading technology companies,” Rick Crutchley, vice president and general manager of North America at Iron Mountain Data Centers, said in a statement. “We expect to continue our balanced leasing strategy, and will pursue the right hyperscale opportunities that complement our core retail colocation ecosystem.”

The 40-acre campus in Phoenix will one day be able to support more than 100 MW of IT load once allocated land has been fully developed. The data center campus currently provides network capacity to other retail enterprise and hyperscale colocation customers in addition to linking with the existing 47 MW at the AZP-1 facility in Phoenix and AZS-1 in Scottsdale.

The Phoenix data center campus offers scaling ability while maintaining security and reliability, as well as an efficient hybrid-IT system of customers, clouds, carriers, and other IT services providers.
