Walmart Reflects on 51 Solar Projects Installed Across Locations
Walmart has completed agreements for more than 50 solar projects totaling 38.3 MW installed at locations across seven states.
The retail giant signed with EDP Renewables for 51 solar projects, 39 of which occurred between 2020 and 2021. These projects were all installed at Walmart locations in Arizona, California, Illinois, New Jersey, Louisiana, Maryland, and South Carolina.
The 38.3 MW of capacity was installed as ground mount and rooftop projects and is expected to offset 27.1 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
Since the installation of these projects, EDPR and Walmart have worked together on creating pollinator-friendly environments at its ground mount solar array at its Laurens, S.C., distribution center. According to EDPR NA, this represents the largest pollinator health effort from a U.S. grocery retailer to date. In addition to attracting beneficial pollinators, the project is designed to lessen stormwater impact.
