Pitney Bowes Increases Use of Renewable Electricity
Pitney Bowes Inc., a global shipping and mailing company that provides technology, logistics, and financial services, announced an increase in its use of renewable energy sources.
The company set a goal in 2019 of procuring at least 20% of its energy from renewable sources by 2025. The goal was surpassed in 2021 and reached 29.7%.
Pitney Bowes made a commitment to continue to source renewable energy in all sites located in deregulated energy market states (where it is readily available), which will bring the company to approximately 50% renewable energy by 2025.
The company also announced a significant increase in the number of its sites procuring electricity from renewable sources through its Green Retail program of electrical contracts with bundled Renewable Energy Certificates (REC).
Pitney Bowes will also include indirect Scope 3 emissions across its entire value chain in its ESG reporting. In 2021, the company used more sustainable fuel for its fleet, e.g., fuel with 2% and 11% biodiesel and diesel blend.
