General Motors, 24/7 Carbon-Free Matching, and Community Solar Added to REF Agenda

The program for Smart Energy Decisions' Renewable Energy Forum continues to take shape as cutting-edge content is added to the agenda. This 10th edition of the Forum is set for December 6-8, 2022 at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa, in Huntington Beach, California. Registration for the event closes on November 6.

Among the latest sessions are:

  • A keynote on “How General Motors Hit 100% RE in the U.S. a Generation Ahead of Schedule” with Rob Threlkeld, Senior Manager - Power and Utility Strategy, General Motors. General Motors announced on October 26 the finalization of energy sourcing agreements required to secure 100% of the energy needed to power all its U.S. facilities by 2025. 
  • “Hourly Carbon-Free Matching – The Next Evolution of Carbon-Free Purchasing,” presented by Constellation will explore how hourly matching (24x7) products are progressing PPA and offsite purchasing agreements.
  • “Advancing your ESG Goals through Community Solar Partnerships” presented by Joe Fiori, Director, Business Development, and Juan Parra, Director, Community Engagement at Nexamp, will focus on the strategies and benefits of structuring community solar partnerships, as well as on what the Inflation Reduction Acts will mean to the industry moving forward.

 Previously announced sessions include:

  • An opening keynote from Jeff Blankman, Sustainable Manufacturing Manager, McCormick & Company on “McCormick’s Recipe for Success – An “All of the Above” Sustainability Strategy.”
  • Quen Howard, Procurement Manager at VF Services, will address the importance of collaboration from leadership and multiple stakeholders to meet renewable energy goals in “Meeting Renewable Energy Goals: A Portfolio View.”
  • Alise Porto, Vice President of Sustainability and Strategic Initiatives at Switch will present “Renewables: The Solution to Water Challenges at Switch Data Centers”
  • John Mack, Fleet Manager, Arizona State University will conduct an interactive session on "ASU's EV Initiatives & Effective Fleet Management"
  • SED’s Peer2Peer Session, for buyers only, allows them to meet and compare goals, challenges, and successes in implementing renewable energy programs.

The Renewable Energy Forum also features SED's highly regarded one-to-one meetings between customers and suppliers, At SED’s last event, 84% of energy customers said these one-to-one meetings might lead to doing business with the supplier, making these sessions a can’t-miss opportunity for buyers and suppliers alike.
