Viva Resorts by Wyndham Adds Solar
Viva Resorts by Wyndham announced it received the Wyndham Green program certification as part of its comprehensive plan to operate its hotels at maximum efficiency while minimizing environmental footprints.
The hotel pioneered several green hospitality sector efforts in the Dominican Republic, including the installation of photovoltaic plants at Viva V Samaná by Wyndham, generating over 68% of its property’s energy and lowering carbon dioxide emissions. These efforts have extended to other resorts within the company’s portfolio in the Dominican Republic, which is now surpassing 2 million kilowatts of solar energy production.
Viva Resorts has spent the past two decades implementing wide-ranging green initiatives.
“Sustainability and giving back to the community has always been part of Viva’s DNA,” said Viva Resorts by Wyndham Corporate Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Erika Sordo, in a statement. “We strongly believe in protecting the environment and especially our oceans. This latest achievement is one more step in underscoring our decades-long commitment to green and clean energy initiatives.”
The Wyndham Green Certification encompasses the implementation of interior energy-efficient lighting, utility tracking, a recycling program, towel and linen reuse, environmental guest communication and property education.
