Michigan Schools Energy Coop to Add Solar Farm

The Executive Committee of the Michigan Schools Energy Cooperative (MISEC) announced the signing of a letter of intent to add a solar farm.

The agreement was signed with NorthStar Clean Energy, a CMS Energy company, to design and develop a solar farm that will provide clean, renewable energy to the members participating in the Electric Choice program, according to a statement.

The solar farm will be located on 380 acres in Genesee County, at US-475 and Carpenter Road.

The 50-megawatt (MW) single-axis solar asset will provide around 93 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually of green power and renewable energy credits exclusively to Michigan Schools.

The construction of the solar farm will begin in the fall of 2023 and commercial operation is expected in June 2025.

This solar farm benefits MISEC and its members, helping them lower their rising energy costs and reduce their environmental impact.
