AptarGroup Achieves 97% of Electricity from Renewable Sources

AptarGroup, Inc. — a global company in drug and consumer product dosing, dispensing and protection technologies — achieved its goal of 97% of electricity coming from renewable sources.

The company’s Scope 3 goal is to lower absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, and downstream transportation and distribution 14% by 2030 from a 2019 base year.

AptarGroup commits to increase annual sourcing of renewable electricity to 100% by 2030. Details were released in its 2023 Corporate Sustainability/Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Report entitled Progress Takes Shape.

As detailed in the report, AptarGroup also received the EcoVadis Platinum level rating in recognition of its sustainability efforts for the fourth consecutive year, placing it among the top 1% of the more than 125,000 companies rated across all industries. The company received the CDP Supplier Engagement Leader for the fourth consecutive year, placing it among 450 companies based on its 2023 CDP disclosure and cited for contributions to emissions reductions throughout the value chain.

Aptar’s 2023 Corporate Sustainability/ESG Report is prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. Aptar obtained “reasonable” external assurance from SGS do Brasil Ltda for its Scope 1 and 2 emissions and “limited” external assurance for Scope 3 GHG emissions from a third party, in compliance with ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse Gas Emissions (Categories 1-6) accounting, proving accuracy of its systems and processes.

“Our keen focus on ESG, both in the way we run our business and in the solutions we provide, affords us a strong competitive advantage. Our solid ESG credentials and reputation serve as powerful assets. We are a company that stakeholders want to engage with, and our employees are proud to work for,” said Stephan B. Tanda, Aptar President and CEO, in a statement. “We are proud to be an ESG leader within the industry, continuously raising the bar on sourcing renewable energy, certifying sites as Landfill Free and developing products that are more recyclable, reusable, refillable and incorporate more sustainable materials.”
