Infographic: JBS USA's sustainability progress and goals
JBS USA, a global branded food company, recently announced its sustainability progress for 2017 and targets for 2020, along with the release of its 2017 Sustainability Report.
In a statement, the company reported that in 2017, JBS USA reduced GHG emissions by 7.6%, natural gas by 6.3%, the intensity of its water use by 6.2%, and electricity by 5.2% compared to 2016. Targets for 2020 include a further 20% reduction in GHG emissions, reducing natural gas use by 20%, the intensity of its water use by 10%, and electricity use by 12%.
“Our 2020 commitments for sustainable improvement continue our legacy of responsibly providing a diverse portfolio of well-recognized customer and consumer-facing brands that meet the needs of families today, while helping make the world a better place for future generations,” said Andre Nogueira, president and CEO of JBS USA. The company is a leading processor of beef, pork, and prepared food products, selling to customers in more than 100 countries.
