Lexmark Targets 2035 Carbon Neutrality

Lexmark announced its new ambition to be carbon neutral by 2035.

The laser printer and imaging product manufacturer is in the interim on track to achieve its target to reduce emissions by 40% by 2025, based on 2015 levels. The company has significantly lowered its carbon footprint by lowering its energy and new plastics use and creating products with a longer lifecycle.

Lexmark has focused on improving the efficiency of its products to reduce the emissions associated with their use. Of their product portfolio, 96% are ENERGY STAR certified, while 39% of plastic in new devices and 37% in new branded cartridges have been reclaimed.

Through initiatives like these, Lexmark has reduced its global emissions by 62% since 2005.

“Lexmark has long been dedicated to reducing our environmental impact,” President and CEO Allen Waugerman said in a statement. “We have led the way on sustainability in our business and for our customers, and we are determined to be carbon neutral by 2035. It is the responsible thing to do for the environment, and it is good for our customers--reducing their costs and helping them meet their own carbon neutrality goals through longer-lasting and lower-energy use devices.”
