AT&S to Deploy IIoT Software for Energy Optimization
Atotech and AT&S announced Oct. 20 a new joint collaboration project focused on improving the energy efficiency of their respective operations.
The project will explore ways to reduce energy consumption associated with the production process of AT&S’s printed circuit boards and IC substrates by improving the efficiency of the plating lines used in the process, which are manufactured by Atotech.
AT&S is pursuing a target of reducing its annual carbon footprint by 5%, while Atotech is exploring ways to expand its industrial software solutions, including Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications. Under this partnership, Atotech will use IIoT software and hardware optimization that will help AT&S reduce its energy consumption.
“This collaboration is a natural product of our companies’ common strengths and objectives. It is an excellent example of our commitment to making a positive difference for our communities and the environment at large,” Geoff Wild, CEO of Atotech, said in a statement. “Atotech is the only major surface-finishing solutions company to provide chemistry, equipment, software and service in a comprehensive solutions-based package,” Mr. Wild continued, “We are delighted to be able to provide that full spectrum of solutions to AT&S.”
