Ralph Lauren targets 100% clean energy by 2025
Ralph Lauren Corp. announced Dec. 2 its commitment to power all its globally owned and operated offices, distribution centers and stores with 100% renewable electricity by 2025 as part of its larger sustainability plan.
The commitment included the fashion company’s move to join RE100 and the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. These efforts will include prioritizing the sustainability of its supply chain and choosing raw materials with low-climate impact.
Ralph Lauren plans to achieve its renewable energy goal through a combination of VPPAs, the construction of on-site solar installations and the purchase of Green Power Products such as RECs and Guarantees of Origin. The company plans to announce an official science-based greenhouse gas reduction target in 2020.
“A world that is beautiful and cared for is the ultimate luxury, and we have a role to play in protecting it by addressing our impacts and creating a more sustainable future,” Patrice Louvet, President & CEO, said in a statement. “Today, we strengthen our commitment to address climate change, one of the biggest challenges facing our world, by joining the movement of companies driving the adoption of renewable energy and affirming our support for the Paris Agreement.”
