Atkore Sets Emission Reduction Goals
Atkore, a manufacturer of electrical and critical infrastructure products for commercial, industrial, data center, telecommunications, water and solar applications, set emission reduction targets at larger manufacturing sites and added the use of renewable energy.
The company’s Phoenix, Arizona facility installed solar carports with EV charging stations, and its Harvey, Illinois facility has been recognized for achieving significant natural gas savings. Atkore’s new facility in Hobart, Indiana, is the company’s largest manufacturing location for solar products, which is a key aspect of Atkore’s role in enabling electrification and renewable energy use.
The company’s goal is to lower Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG Intensity by 10% by 2025 vs 2020 baseline.
Details were published in its 2023 Sustainability Report, detailing key highlights in the company’s environment, social and governance (ESG) practices and performance.
“I’m incredibly proud of Atkore’s continued achievements related to ESG,” said Bill Waltz, Atkore President and CEO, in a statement. “Atkore’s products support the transition to a low-carbon economy, and as the need for renewable energy increases, we’re investing to deliver expanded solar products and capabilities. Additionally, Atkore is equally committed to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace, as it drives both individual and company excellence, innovation and success. As a result, our efforts were recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation 'Equality 100 Award: Leaders in LGBTQ+ Inclusion.' We are pleased to share other notable ESG accomplishments in our 2023 Sustainability Report and to provide more comprehensive coverage of our material ESG topics on our website.”
