Agilent Technology meets emissions targets through onsite solar

Agilent Technologies recently announced that it added three new solar sites that will offset 277 metric tons of carbon in 2019 and made progress toward its energy targets.

The life sciences and applied chemical company recently released its 2019 Corporate Social Responsibility Report, in which it outlined that it reduced CO2e by 17% per square foot and 30% by headcount in 2019, achieving more than its original target of 5%. The company aimed to reduce energy use by 5% by 2019 and 10% by 2024, but only achieved a 3.2% kWh reduction per square foot in 2019. However, it did exceed that goal per headcount, with an 18% reduction per kWh.

In total, the company had five existing onsite solar systems that offset 623 metric tons of CO2 and since FY 2015 3,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions have been offset through the use of solar power systems.

“Agilent’s mission is to provide trusted answers and insights that advance the quality of life. We know that a focus on improving our environmental progress, our social commitments and good growth are essential to achieving this mission,” Mike McMullen, president and CEO of Agilent, said in a statement. “Throughout 2019, and especially in 2020, we’ve been grateful for the opportunity to have a positive impact on people and communities around the globe.”
