Avery Dennison Signs Solar VPPA
Avery Dennison, a global materials science and digital identification solutions company, signed a 10-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) for the 44-MWdc Las Rozas solar plant in Spain.
The agreement was signed with Zelestra, a global renewable energy company. The Las Rozas solar plant will generate 90 GWh of renewable electricity per year, avoiding 16,290 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
The decade-long commitment by Avery Dennison to purchase renewable energy certificates from Zelestra marks a milestone in the company’s sustainability and carbon reduction program.
Avery Dennison is dedicated to minimizing the environmental impact of its operations, targeting a 70% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.
“Accessing sustainable energy sources is foundational to our company’s overall commitment to reducing Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions,” said Michael Colarossi, Head of Enterprise Sustainability, Avery Dennison, in a statement. We are partnering with Zelestra to make sustainable energy sources more widely available across the energy grid."
