Colgate-Palmolive sees 350K MWh drop in energy use
Colgate-Palmolive Company has implemented energy efficiency upgrades that since 2012 have saved the company approximately 349,754 MWh of energy use and 121,824 metric tons of CO2.
Various locations throughout the company have implemented energy savings initiatives. Their Burlington, N.J., manufacturing plant received solar panels that provide 33% of the plant’s energy needs and received LEED certification for Zero Energy & Carbon. In their China manufacturing operations, Colgate-Palmolive replaced over 100 high-energy motors with low-energy motors. Additionally, in Mexico, general service pumps were swapped for high-efficiency pumps.
For their efforts, Colgate-Palmolive received a 2020 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award for Sustained Excellence for an eighth year.
“Energy management and the use of renewable energy sources are two of the building blocks of Colgate’s greater sustainability strategy,” Ann Tracy, Chief Sustainability Officer, said in a statement. “As we continue to make great strides toward our 2025 sustainability goals, we are proud to be recognized by ENERGY STAR® for our commitment to reducing emissions and eliminating energy waste.”
