For the first time ever, renewable energy (including hydro, biomass, wind, solar and geothermal) is projected to generate more electricity than coal-fired plants for the month of April and could do so again in May, according to data published in the Energy Information Administration’s Short-Term Energy Outlook.

Ernst & Young LLP announced it has signed VPPAs to initiate the construction of two large-scale Texas-based wind farms. Iron Mountain Inc. announced new energy transactions in Texas and Illinois that will provide access to 100% renewable power for its facilities in both states. The deals amount to more than 25,000 MWh of green energy per year over the next three years

Amazon.com announced three new renewable energy projects as part of its long-term goal to power all Amazon Web Services (AWS) global infrastructure with renewable energy. These projects – one in Ireland, one in Sweden, and one in the U.S. – will deliver more than 229 MW of wind-generated energy.
